Minutes of the Meeting
ZONING & PLANNING COMMISSION
February 17, 1972
A special meeting of the Zoning & Planning Commission was called to
order by Chairman Weldon Willbanks on February 17, 1972 at 7:30 PAi. Members
present were Col. Mansfield, Col. Sharp, and Mr. Hugh Sandifer. Guests
.were. members of the City Council, Citizen's Advisory Committee, Urban Renewal
Agenlgy, and Mr. Edgar Von Scheele.
Chairman Willbanks then presented Mr. Hoyle Osborne, Planning Consultant
with Marmon, Mok, ~ Green.. Mr. Osborne related the proposed population growth
of Schertz charted on maps. Projected developed land area, both residential
and commercial land requirements in regard to the City of Schertz, and Inser-
state 35 were discussed. He also spr~ke of the traffic problems of major streets
and thoroughfares. A question and answer period followed the discussion. No
definite decision on the zoning of Live Oak Road was made. It will be disensaed
in detail at the regular meeting, February 23, 1972.
A letter from Mr. Edgar Von Scheele dated February 8 requesting a variance
to the Subdivision Ordinance was presented. Mr. Von Scheele asked that side-
yard requirements to be reduced from 6 ft. to 5 ft. with a total of ten feet
in the Val Verde and Greenfield Subdivisions. A motion was made by Col. Sharp
and seconddd by Mr. Sandifer to defer action o~ this and give it to the Fire
Marshal. The vote was unanimous.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM by Chairman Willbanks.
