There was none. #4 CONSIDER AND MAKE RECOMMENDATION Victoria Ellis - Presentation of Demographics Data 'Chairman Andrews reported that due to a conflict in schedules between tonight's meeting and Miss Ellis' finals, this item will be tabled until the-December 17th meeting if -that's agreeable to everyone.. Once- again Odo Riedel stressed he doesn`t.understand why -he has to v.icate and replat. -3- Chairman Andrews related that the RV area was shut down by the " .City becaus iA*w.as4t n vialation ;ofU. every or 'c ' , A gig �A 4 Y w t City -has. -- ��ir.� -Andr.ews went on :to say .the City ;,knew���t�hey would have to contend with it.sooner or later. Mr' Andrews expressed the opinion that the City can either the,, area }fit; {f, go to waste or try and work with Mr. Riedel. ?r City Inspector Leonard Truitt informed the Commission that Mr. Riedel has a service building under construction which will provide a washateria'_!and: also`: has plans to build}fe., restroom facilities, but: they:are;not. under ,construction yet;:. After further discussion,'Odo Riedel was still.: to the vacate and replat requirement and the pull through requirement, and asked the Commission to let him :,know what they decide. ;Steve .Simonson- told Mr. Riedel he would let him know, 7 :in writing, the Commission's decision and that the Commission will make its recommendation to City Council. `'After this, Mr. Riedel left and•Merwin Willman came back into the room for the rest of the .meeting.' Steve. Simonson commented that when the plat for Pecan Grove was originally approved., he doesn't think there was a requirement for pull- throughs, but he will check into it and Ic,t them know for sure. Jim Shrives asked why the City has an ordinance if no one • c.��m1?1.ic:�s. . -4- Merwin Willman stated he came to the meeting tonight willing, to compromise and discuss matters, but not to be accused of not knowing what he's doing. Gary Bricken suggested the Commission ask themselves_if this proposed RV Park will be a proud addition to the City and will others have to comply. Mr. Bricken also expressed the opinion that, after tonight`s.discussion with -Mr. .Riedel,..he is less willing to compromise now than in the beginning. Jim Shriver, venting a little frustration,' said if. the Commission lets the proposed,.'`RV.Park go the way its IS everyone might as well .resign.1 Keith Van Dine observed that sometimes the Commission,paints itself into a corner by. trying to compromise, and they shouldn't. If the proposed .RV:..Park is .shut .down,;;so, be Chairman Andrews remarked on two -items discussed tonight on. which. Mr. Riedel seemed to agree. The first was that an emergency flood warning system be maintained and -tested periodically and the second. City, Council. -5- Bobbie Vonada suggested that the letter to Odo :.Rkede worded so he understands it is a City ordinance,,,,, z ' �-; follows the quidelines of the State*.,.,La w and - Keith Van Dine:' (a) Explained his position in a sexual harassment case and r (-,, c e n L f.Lir'ing by t.-Ihe Texas Department of Corrections. M Mr. Van Dine told the members he would like to remain on the C:�rar;;_ssi_cn because he is innocent and resigning, to him, is like admitting he is guilty. Mr. Van Dine commented, however, that if it makes the other Commissioners uncomfortable with him there, he will resign. There was support from the other Commissioners for Keith Van Dine to remain. Jim Shriver remarked he finds nothing. in the - regulations that say Mr. Van Dine has to move on. Gary Bricken, referring to the fact he had been unemployed for several months before finally finding a job, admitted that being connected to an organization such as the Commission was good for his mental balance. #7 ADJOURNMENT Chairman Andrews adjourned. the meeting at 9:00 P.M. The next meeting will be a joint public he,_ring and special s:-ssion scheduled for December 17, i991.
