2010R02-City's Official Newspaper RESOLUTION NO. 10-R-02 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS DESIGNATING THE CITY'S OFFICIAL NEV6'SPAPER WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 78-M-22 requires the City Council, by Resolution, to designate a public newspaper of general circulation in the City of Schertz as the City's official newspaper; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to designate the Daily Commercial Recorder for the publication of legal notices through September 30, 2010 and thereafter for the 2010-2011 fiscal year if the City Council takes no contrary action. The Northeast Herald will serve as a secondary City publication. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS THAT: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, hereby designates the Daily Commercial Recorder as the City's official newspaper for the publication of all official legal notices for the period ending September 30, 2010 and thereafter for the 2010-2011 fiscal year if the City Council takes no contrary action, with the Northeast Herald as a secondary City publication, pursuant to the terms set forth in the attached proposal on behalf of the Daily Commercial Recorder and the Northeast Herald. Section 2. The City Secretary is directed to provide a copy of this Resolution to the Daily Commercial Recorder and the Northeast Herald to evidence the City's acceptance of the Daily Commercial Recorder and the Northeast Herald proposal. Dear Mr. Taylor, The San Antonio Express-News has reviewed your request and would like to propose holding your existing advertising rates for legal notices in both the daily Daily Commercial Recorder and in the Northeast Herald. Per your request, here are the responses to your queries: 1) The Daily Commercial Recorder will serve as the main "Newspaper of Record" for legal notices, and the Herald will serve as the secondary publication. All items published for the City of Schertz will appear in both publications. 2) The Herald is a `newspaper of general circulation' in the Schertz area. See attached. 3) Legal notice rates for the Herald: a) $ .63 per line b) $7.50 per inch c) $106.88 per quarter page 4) Legal notice rates for the Daily Commercial Recorder: a) $2.18 per line b) $21.80 per inch . c) $327 per''/a page 5) The City can indeed provide copy on an electronic basis. 6) The Herald publishes every Thursday. Deadline for in-column material is Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Display deadline is 4:00 p.m. Monday prior to publication. The Daily Commercial Recorder publishes daily, Monday-Friday. Deadline for in- column material is 2:00 p.m. the day before publication. Display deadline is 2:00 p.m. two days prior to publication. 7) The San Antonio Express-News will provide tearsheets and/or affidavits at no additional expense for legal notices. The Affidavit of Publication that is preferred by the City of Schertz can be used as long as a copy of the affidavit is provided for each notice requested for publication. 8) See attached information that will be relevant in making your purchasing decision.
