HAL BALDWIN, BUSINESS MANAGER HERB REHMANN, DIRECTOR AUXILIARY SERVICES RE: INFORMATION CONCERNING LAND PURCHASE DATE: NOVEMBER 26, 1991 An offer of $90,000.00 for the ll.28l acre tract out of the Genobera Malpaz Survey No. 67 ~stract 22l located in Guadalupe County, Schertz, Texas, was presented to the Broadway National Bank for their consideration. The bank has agreed to sell the property to the District for the amount offered. There are a number of important reasons for the District to purchase the tract. Growth The parking area for the District Bus Fleet is at capacity. With the addition of new buses every year, parking space is critical. Additional parking is necessary at the Central Office to accommodate em~loyees, visitors, District meeting participants and Board of Trustee meeting visitors. ,".~",<' " .'C< 'J . The Districtneeds.Xo expand the warehouse facility in order to provide adequate storage space. for supplies, materials and equipment used by the staff and students. Also, the Maintenance Shop is much too zmall for the types of building repair provided by maintenance crews. Safety The gas fueling station is located under GVEC high voltage transmission lines creating a very dangerous situation for employees refueling vehicles, The driveway entrance/exit to the bus facility is very hazardous because of the slope at the point it enters Elbel Road. An additional entrance or exit would reduce the danger to vehicular traffic on Elbel Road. There is a requirement to build a separate facility for the storage of chemicals and painting materials used by the District. Span of Control: Central location of the bus fleet is a direct savings in fuel, maintenance and manhours. Ifa central kitchen were to be relocateQ from the high school to the newpr'operty;the location would maintain whatever savings result in the. ..fa,ciUty.being tn the. center of . the District. 1060 Elbel Road .
