2011-R-22 Employee Remembrance DayRESOLUTION NO. 11-R-22 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, SETTING THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING EACH YEAR AS "EMPLOYEE REMEMBRANCE DAY", HONORING EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY AND ALL RETIRED AND ACTIVE DUTY EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE SERVED THE CITY FOR TEN YEARS OR MORE AND WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY. WHEREAS, a monument at the Public Works Center has been constructed by City employees to honor City employees who have died in the line of duty to the City and to honor all retired and active duty City employees who have served the City for ten years or more and who have passed away for their contributions to the well-being and safety of the citizens of this community; and. WHEREAS, the monument shall display the names of the employees to be so recognized and honored by their fellow employees and our citizens: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Schertz declares the frst day of Spring each year as "Employee Remembrance Day" to honor City employees who have died in the line of duty to the City and to honor retired and active duty City employees wha have served the City for ten years or more and who have passed away for their contributions to the well being and safety of the citizens of Schertz. On Employee Remembrance Day, flags will be flown at half- staff on all City flag poles in memory of all such dedicated City employees. Section 2. If the first day of Spring in a year is not a business day, Ernplayee Remembrance Day will be celebrated on the next business day. Section 3. The City Manager shall resolve all questions of eligibility for recognition. Section 4. All resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of any conflict.
