A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS
AUTHORIZING THE USE OF "CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS" TO
PAY DEBTS TO THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, AND AUTHORIZING
THE COLLECTION OF A "CONVENIENCE FEE" FOR USING
SUCH CARDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Schertz desires to provide
convenient methods for citizens to pay for certain City services and other debts
owed to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City is in possession of the equipment and technology
to provide such services; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 132 of the Local Government Code provides for
the collection of processing fees to cover the costs of providing such a service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
SECTION I
THAT, the City Council of the City of Schertz authorizes the collection of
fees, fines and any other form of debt to the City through the use of branded
credit cards (Master Card, Visa or Discover only).
SECTION 2
THAT, the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas further authorizes
the collection of a processing fee not to exceed four percent (4%), up to a
maximum charge of four dollars ($4.00), per transaction. Debit cards shall be
charged a maximum of fifty-seven cents (.57) per transaction.
