BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS
AUTHORIZING EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT
GUADALUPE VALLEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE (GVEC)
FRANCHISE AGREEMENT, ORDINANCE NO. 276, TO THE
EARLIER OF SEPTEMBER 30,1998 OR THE EFFECTIVE
DATE OF THE NEW FRANCHISE AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz currently has a Franchise Agreement with
GVEC which took effect November 9, 1972 and was due to expire May 23, 1998,
but was continued by Resolution No. 98-R-6 until July 19,1998; and
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz and GVEC are in the process of finalizing
negotiations for a new Franchise Agreement, however, various time
requirements will result in exceeding the revised expiration date before
completion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT, the City Council hereby authorizes the extension of the current
Franchise Agreement with GVEC to the earlier of September 30, 1998 or the
effective date of the new franchise ordinance.
