A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ..THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FOR
FUNDING INCREASING PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE INTERNET
AT THE SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY.
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz is committed to providing
its citizens with access to as much electronic information
as pOSSible in order to broaden the scope of library
resources available locally to people of all age groups and
educational levels; and
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz is requesting funding
through the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund (TIF)
Board for funding public access to the Internet at Schertz
Public Library; and
WHEREAS, the requested amount funded by the
Telecommunications Infrastructure Board is $49,840.00; and
WHEREAS, the community of Schertz will provide
furniture for project equipment out of local funds; assume
ongoing telecommunications (estimated at $300.00 or less
per month), hardware, and software costs associated with
the project at the end of the one year grant period; and
WHEREAS, the Schertz Public Library commits to provide
public service locations for Internet access in the
library; developing and implementing Internet Access
Policies; submitting Internet Access Policies to TIF with
the first progress report; submitting two progress reports
to TIF, participating in TIF project evaluation, and
attending required Grantee Kickoff and Internet training
during the grant period as determined by TIF and TSL.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT the City Council authorizes application to the
Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund (TIF) Board for
grant funding for the purpose of increasing public access
to the Internet at the Schertz Public Library in SChertz,
Texas.
