1991R10- HIGH SPEED RAIL RESOLUTION NO.-_~!~~:lC2- A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, A RANDOLPH METROCOM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEMBER CITY, SUPPORTING THE TEXAS TGV (HIGH SPEED RAIL) DEPOT AND MAINTENANCE FACILITY WITHIN THE METROCOM JURISDICTION WHEREAS, the Texas High Speed Rail Authority has awarded Texas TGV the franchise to build and operate a high speed passenger rail system linking the major cities of Texas; and WHEREAS, prelimary route studies have Texas TGV alignment within the corridors of metrocom area; and placed the the Randolph WHEREAS, within the Randolph Metrocom area exist numerous parcels of land, prime for potential development, immediately adjacent to the Southern pacific Railroad Tracks of which the Texas TGV will travel; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, recognizes the Kirby site as the optimum location for the Texas TGV depot and maintenance facility due to: availability of land, which will assist in keeping displacement of residents to a minimum, potential for economic development, and the easy access for surface transportation to major traffic arteries. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: To fully support the Kirby site as the ideal location the depot and maintenance facility for the Texas TGV Speed Rail) for the above mentioned reasons. ~~ ~ for (High PASSED, APPROVED November, 1991.
