A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CONTINUED WIDENING
OF IH-35
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz is a member of
Austin-San Antonio Corridor council which is composed
county governments; universities; chambers of
utilities; and private businesses; and
the Greater
of city and
commerce;
WHEREAS, the Council is interested in the development
of economic opportunities and maintaining quality of life in the
Corridor: and
WHEREAS, we are competing in a global economy; and
WHEREAS, a first class transportation system is
necessary for the movement of goods and people; and
WHEREAS, IH-35 is' the central artery for the movement
pf goods and people in the region; and
WHEREAS, this volume will increase due to trade with
Mexico, increased tourism and general growth: and
WHEREAS, the safety of the publiC is at risk; and
WHEREAS, a significant portion of IH-35 has been
expanded to three lanes; and
WHEREAS,

BE IT RESOLVlm BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas
hereby urges the Texas Department of Highways and Public
Transportation to give this project priority status and to
complete the widening of IH-35 between San Antonio and Austin in
the earliest possible time frame.
