A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, REQUESTING THE AREA DIRECTOR AND THE
AUSTIN STATE SCHOOL TO SUPPORT THE RANDOLPH
OPPORTUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR THE DISABLED
CENTER AND FURNISHING COPIES OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO SEVERAL INTERESTED PARTIES.
WHEREAS, a number of parents and interested citizens
formed a community-based program for disabled young adults: and
WHEREAS, the Randolph Opportunity Association for the
Disabled (R,O.A.D.) Foundation has been developed for the purpose
of providing real life experiences and job coaching programs at
job sites for local disabled youth: and
WHEREAS, the R.O.A.D. Foundation began work with the
Austin State School program: and
WHEREAS, there has been a continued growth in the need
and activities of the R.O.A.D. program; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS,
THAT the Austin State School Area Director and the
Austin State School be requested to support the R,O.A.D. Center
through efforts such as continuation of a community-based program
and provisions for continued growth and enlargement of program
and capabilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT copies of this resolution be furnished to the
cities of Cibolo, Converse, Live Oak, Universal City, the
Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District, the
representatives of the Austin State School, Guadalupe County and
to State Representative Edmund KuempeI and State Senator Judith
Zaffirini.
