A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS
ADOPTING A PROCEDURE AND POLICY TO ESTABLISH THE
MANNER IN WHICH THE POSITION OF MAYOR PRO-TEM IS
SELECTED.
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Schertz, Section 4.05 provides for
selection of the Mayor Pro-Tem by the City Council after the regular annual
City election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Schertz desires. to establish
a formal policy and procedure for the Mayor Pro-Tem selection; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
That beginning in May, 1991 at the first regular City Council meeting
after the election of members to the City Council, the Mayor Pro-Tem position
shall be filled by that person serving in the position of City Councilmember,
Place I, and each six months thereafter, the position of Mayor Pro-Tern shall
be rota ted numer ica 11y to Ci ty Counc il Pl ace II, I II, IV, and V. After com-
pletion of the six months term for the person serving as City Councilmember,
Place V, the six months rotation process will begin again, beginning at City
Council, Place I position.
