Visitors: Nane CALL TO ORDER: Mary McAllister called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. HEARING OF RESIDENTS: None REGULAR AGENDA 1. Minutes -Consideration and/or action regarding the approval of the minutes of August 1, 2011. Ruth Tienor moved to accept the September minutes. Roger Sturdy seconded, September 12, 2011 minutes approved. 2. Treasurer's Report -Consideration and/or action approving the September, 2011 Treasurer's Report September bookstore sales were not reported. Margaret Riley moved to accept the September 2011 treasurer's report. Neota Brady seconded. Motion cai7•ied. September 2011 Treasurer's report was approved. 3. Librarians' Report --Librarians will report on the following items: • September 2011- Library usage statistics Circulation: 35,2b0 Patrons: 22,254 New Cards: 445 Renewals: 545 ILLS: 137 Self check items: 14,217 Program Hours 1407 Volunteer hours 97.75 E-Resource usage 423 Computer Usage 4,762 • September 2011 Library programs and program statistics: End of fiscal year number for the library: There has been a 5.49% increase in circulation Total visits have decreased .89% Program attendance is up 29% The library collection grew 11 % to 79,000 items Registered borrowers increased 0~-11-1 1 P12~44 RCVD SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING October 3, 2011 • September Library fundraising statistic: - The end of fiscal year library fund is at $1,6$2,170.41 in pledges and gifts. There are still about ten to twelve thousand dollars outstanding in pledges to be tui~ed in. • Upcoming Library Projects: - The web page did not get finished. It did not get presented at the City Council meeting. At the Fall Meeting for District 10, it was announced that as of August 1, 2012 the Library system does not exist due to state budget cuts. Many people lost their jobs and everything was given away. 4. Bookstore Committee Report -Committee will report on the following items: • General operation of the bookstore during the month of September 2011 All shifts are filled. There are some substitute spots that need to be filled. Pronto Printing gave a quote for printing book marks. 500 will be ordered. A discussion was had regarding getting a small Christmas gift far the book store volunteers. Vintage books are almost all alphabetized in the shelf. • Update on consignment sales of books Juan gave his report on the information he collected regarding the company he found for consignment book sales. The company is called Library Consignments. A discussion was had regarding what that company had to offer and how it compared to Book Prospector. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION 5. Sculpture --Discussion and passible action on the purchase of a piece of sculpture for the Library courtyard. There was a discussion on the sculpture June sponsored. She was interested in a globe for that spot. Gail will bring selections to choose from to the next board meeting and action will be taken to get it ordered. SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING October 3, 2011 6. Nominating Committee -Appointment of nominating committee to choose Library Advisory Board Officers. Committee is to report back i_rr November with a slate of officers. The nominating committee will consist ofthe following hoard members: Roger Sturdy Pattie Lovelady Sandy Keiser Slate of officers need to be appointed at the next board meeting. Everyone has asked to be reappointed. ANNOUNCEMENTS 7.
