ORDINANCE NO. 74-(!'-/g'
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE NATIONAL FIRE CODES,
1973-1974 EDITION, IN TEN VOLUMES, AS THE FIRE
CODE OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, AS HEREIN
MODIFIED; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF
THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL PRESENT ORDINANCES
IN DIRECT CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE; AND CON-
TAINING OTHER MATTERS PERTINENT TO THE SUBJECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SCHERTZ, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. This Ordinance is and shall be known and may be
cited as the Fire Code of the City of Schertz.
SECTION 2. National Fire Codes; adopted.
The 1973-1974 Edition of the National Fire Code, in ten
volumes, as compiled and recommended by the National Fire Protec-
tion Association, Boston, Massachusetts, is specifically adopted
as the Fire Code of the City of Schertz, Texas, and a copy is
attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as though
set out completely in detail. A copy of said National Fire Code
shall be filed wi th the City Secretary and maintained in the
City Secretary's office of the City of Schertz, Texas, and all
such copies shall be open to public inspection during business
hours of the office where they are situated.
SECTION 3. Penalty.
Any person violating, or failing to comply with, any pro-
vision of the National Fire Codes, 1973-1974 Edition, as adopted
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined an amount not exceeding two hundred
dollars ($200.00). Each day's violation hereof shall constitute
a separate offense.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance and the National Fire Codes, 1973-1974
Edition, adopted herein by reference are cumulative of any other
ordinance on this subject dealt with herein and does not repeal
any present ordinance unless this ordinance and said National
Fire Codes, 1973-1974 Edition, are in direct conflict therewith,
in which connection this ordinance and the National Fire Code,
1973-1974 Edition, shall govern.
SECTION 5. The invalidity of any section or prov~s~on of this
ordinance or of the code hereby adopted shall not invalidate
other sections or provisions thereof.
