L THE STATE OF TEXAS GUADALUPE COUNTY CITY OF SCHERTZ ~ ~ ~ NOTICE OF ELECTION ~ ~ ~ TO ALL LEGALLY QUALIFIED RESIDENT VOTERS OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS ~ ~ ~ TAKE NOTICE that an election will be held in said city on SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 1974, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) Aldermen for said city, by ordinance of the City Council of said city duly passed and approved on the 19th day of February, 1974; said ordinance being substantially as follows: to-wit: , . THE STATE OF TEXAS ~ COUNTY OF GUADALUPE ~ CITY OF SCHERTZ ~ ON THIS, the 19th day of February, 1974, at 7:00 p.m., the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, regularly. convened at a regular meeting in the regular meeting nlace of said City Coun- cil in the City of Schertz, Texas, which meeting was at all times open to the public, and the roll was called of the duly constituted officers and members of said City Council, namely: ROBERT C. BUEKER MAYOR MRS. NELL G. FUNK ALDERHONAN ROBERT E. SCHWARTZ ALDERl1AN HUGH G. SANDIFER ALDERNAN MRS. BOBBIE L. KOCH ALDERHOMAN TorI KOOLE ALDERIvIAN AND MRS. JUNE G. KRAUSE CITY SECRETARY DENNY ARNOLD CITY MANAGER and all of said persons were present. Whereupon, among other busi- ness the following was transacted at said meeting: An ordinance calling an election for Mayor and Aldermen was introduced for the consideration of the Council. It was then duly moved and seconded that said ordinance be adopted; and, after due discussion, said mo- tion, carrying with it the adoption of said ordinance, prevailed and carried by the following vote: AYES: All members of the City Council shown present above voted "AYE" NOES: None .. AN ORDINANCE -it Jtl- E - c; BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, CALI,ING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ELEC- TION ON APRIL 6, 1974, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECT- ING A MAYOR AND TWO ALDERllEN FOR SAID CITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ., TEXAS; I That an election be held in and throughout the City of Schertz on Saturday, April 6, 1974, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) Aldermen for said city. II That at said election, the candidate receiving the high- est number of votes for the office of Mayor shall be elected to such position. Also at said election, the two (2) candidates re- ceiving the highest number of votes for the position of Alderman shall be elected to such position. Any person desiring to be a candidate for either Mayor or Alderman and desiring to have his or her name placed on the bal- lot of the election shall not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date of said election, file with the !IIayor his or her appli- cation in writing in the form and manner provided by lalL III That none but legally qualified resident voters of the City of Schertz shall be allowed to vote at said election. IV That for the purpose of holdinp; said election, the entire City of Schertz shall constitute one (1) election precinct and the Fire Station at 6011 Live Oak Road, City of Schertz, Texas, is here- by desiGnated the polling place for holding said election. The polIs shall remain open on the day of the election from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. . , v The following persons are hereby designated and appoint- ed election officers for the holding of said election: ~J nJa JQ;7/);:VV t. Ii 1J~/JMO;r/7 ~ That the Alternate Presiding Judge above n~med, in the PRESIDING JUDGE ALTERNATE PRESIDING JUDGE absence of the Presiding Judge, shall perform the duties of the Pre- siding Judge in such election. The Presiding Judge shall appoint two (2) qualified voters who are residents of the City of Schertz, Texas, to serve as clerks in said election, providing, however, that if both the Presiding Judge and Alternate Presiding Judge are present, then the Alternate Presiding Judge shall be appointed and counted as one of such clerks. VI That the City Hall at 100 1st Street, Schertz, Texas, which is a public place within said city, is hereby designated as the place at which absentee voting shall be conducted; that the City Secretary is hereby appointed clerk to conduct such absentee voting in said election; and that with the exception of Saturdays, Sundays, and official state holidays, said office or place shall remain open for the following eight (8) hours each day for absentee voting, to-wit: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. VII That paper ballots shall be used in said election and said ballots to be used in said election shall be prepared in conformity with the Texas Election Code, as amended. VIII That a substantial copy of this election ordinance shall serve as proper notice of said election and said notice of said election shall be given by posting a copy of said notice of election ~ .. at the aforesaid polling place and at the City Hall at least twen- ty (20) days before the election and by publishing said notice of election at least one time not more than twenty-five (25) days or less than ten (10) days before the election in at least one daily newspaner published in the City of Schertz. A copy of said notice of election shall be filed with the County Clerk and al10ther notice posted in the office of the County Clerk at least twenty (20) days before the election.
