Visitors: Brian James, April Toman and Lizzi 131as~ CALL TO ORDER: Sonia Samora called the mee#ing to order at 7:02 p.m... REGULAR AGENDA: 1. Minutes - Considerafion and/or action regarding the approval of the minutes of January 7, 2013. The minutes weren't available for review so consideration) action regarding the January 7, 2013 minutes was tabled until April meeting. 2. Treasurer's Report - Gorasideratiorr arrd/or action regarding the. approval of the December 2092 and January 2093 Treasurer's Report. Cash account ending balance December 31, 2012 was $29,493.63. ~ . investment account ending balance December~31, 2012 was $30,776.02. Cash account ending balance January 31, 2013 was $31,204.70. - Investmentaccount ending balance January 31, 2013 was $30,779.76. It was explained.that the Schertz-Cibolo lions Club donation waS.for the 1000 gooks Program and,there are corresponding disbursements in January. Shonale Burke moved to accept the Treasurer's Report. Pattie Lovelady seconded. December 2012 and January 2013 Treasurer's Reports were approved, 3.. Librarian's Report - Librarians vvili report on the fallowing items: • January 2013 -Library Usage Statistics: Overall circulation: 31,683 Patrons:19,059 New Cards: 341 - Renewals: 504 Seif-Check Usage: 12,275 # People attending Programs: 874 Volunteer Hours: 403 Computer usage: 2,708 ., • February 2013 -Library Usage Statistics; Overall circulation: 29,490 Patrons;19,Q59 New Cards: 379 Renewals: 491 Self-Check Usage: 11,512 # f~eople attending Programs: 1142 Volunteer Hours: 393 Computer usage: 2,708 • Lizzi explained this was the first year for an adult Winter ~2eading Club and it was successful. She said 81 registered and 62 returned their reading logs. She received positive feedback and participants enjoyed reading outside their preferred genre. • April explained the children's Winter Reading Club was also very successful. She had 63% completion with 162 registrants and 102 completions. • Both Lizzi and April expressed their thanks to the Library Advisory Board for their continued support. • The Library Facebook page has a link to Web site on e-readers. Melissa is trying to pest more and get more usage on Facebook. 4. Bookstore Committee Report: Committee will report on the following items. • gonations have been limited but business is steady. A book sale is scheduled for March 22"~. It will be advertised in the Herald and on Facebook. • Next book sale will be in July. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE AC'fiON: 5. Landscaping -There is a Plant and Alay Day scheduled for March 23`d. Other landscape related issues tabled until next meeting. 6. Library Board Officers Nomination and Election --Carol Cyr and Neota Brady were appointed as the nominating commit#ee and will present a slate of officers at'the May for consideration. 7. Hal Baldwin Memorial ~ We're waiting on quotes for sculptures. Gail Douglas provided pictures of options and will provide quotes at next meeting. t3. Volunteers Luncheon --April is volunteer appreciation month so we'll plan a volunteer luncheon at La Cabana. April 20t" would be the first choice and April 13~' if 20~' not available. There should be approximately 40 persons in attendance: Are estimate will be provided for consideratioh at next meeting, Library Advisory Board members will bring in crock pats with soups and deserts for library staff. 9. Bob Tienar Memorial - A $50 donation to the Library in memory of Bob and all his efforts in support of the library was suggested. Mary McAllister monied to donate $50. Patkie Lovelady seconded the motion. The motion was approved. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Correspondence received - none. Announcements by Library Board members -none were reported. Call for items to be included on next agenda -- Baldwin memorial sculpture, Volunteers Luncheon Staff Appreciation, and Summer Reading Program ADJOURNMENT: Shonale Burke moved to adjourn and Sandy Keiser seconded.
