ORDINANCE NO. f'O-IU-Cu
AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INDUSTRIAL
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE AND PRESCRIBING THE RESPON-
SIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Schertz has determined
the new businesses and industries locating in the City will be of benefit
to the citizens and the City as a whole; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to solicit and assist new businesses'
endeavors in the City; and

. WHEREAS, an Industrial Development Committee will 'provide the
necessary energy and interests to the creation of an Industrial Develop-
I ment plan; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
SECTION I
That there is hereby created an Industrial Development Committee
to be composed of business 1 eaders who understand. the problems of Bus i ness
and Industry as well as the needs of the City.
SECTION II
\ The structure of the Committee will be five (5) or seven (7)
members as determined by the City Council through letters, of appointment.
/ The Committee will be selected so as to utilize the ten basic areas of
expertise. The Committee will be structured as follows:
Chairman - selected from members and appointed by Council.
Member (Manager of Utility)
~1ember (Contractor)
Member ( Realtor)
Member (Banker)
Member ( Insurance)
Util ities
Transportation
Construction
Zoning
Site location
Buil di ngs
Financing
Living Conditions
Insurance
Taxation
Ex-Officio (Councilman)
SECTION I II
The responsibilities of the Committee are to:
1. Establish Industrial Development planning as a process
in the City.
2. Develop an Industrial Development plan for the City.
3. Implement the Industrial Development Plan after final
approval of the City Council.
4. Seek out and encourage desirable new industry and
businesses to locate into the City.

5. Submit regular reports to the City Council and
request workshop sessions with the Council on an
as needed basis concerning specific projects.
6. Recommend general policies relating to industrial
development.
7. Recommend the adoption of specific ordinances
that will aid in the implementation of desirable
projects,
8. Conduct one regular meeting a month,
9. Call special meetings as needed.
10. Keep accurate minutes of each meeting. The minutes
as approved to be placed on file with the City.
