78-R-9 FOOD HANDLER RESOLUTI ON NO. 7<;--~-q A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND ADOPTING RULES FOR THE ISSUING OF A FOOD HANDLER'S PERMIT AND SETTING FEES. WHEREAS, it is in the public interest and welfare to issue food handler's permits, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: I That the City Secretary is hereby authorized to issue food handler's permits. I I Each applicant for a iood handler's permit required by this resolution shall apply to the City Secretary for the issuance of a food handler's permit on such forms as the City Secretary shall deem proper. A supply of such application forms may, at the discretion of the City Secretary, be supplied to physicians and submitted to the City Secretary after examination. III No food handler's permit shall be issued by the City Secretary under the provisions of this resolution until the applicant therefore has been found to be free of any infectious or contagious disease after examina- tion by a physician duly licensed and authorized by and under the laws of the State of Texas, which examination shall include an annual examination for tuberculosis, the resulting report of which examination must be in writing, and must be on file in the office of the City Secretary before the issuance of a food handler's permit. IV All food handler's permits shall be issued by the City Secretary on such form as may be prescribed by the City Secretary. At the discretion of the City Secretary such permit may be in the form of the report of ex- amination issued by the physician upon the application form and authenticated by an issuing stamp by the City Secretary. Such permit may be issued in duplicate copies by the City Secretary upon request by the applicant. V No food handler's permit shall be valid for more than one year, and no renewal of a food handler's permit shall be issued by the City Secretary until the examinations required by this resolution have been sucessfully completed and the applicant found to be free of any infectious or contagious disease. VI There shall be a charge made by the City Secretary of $2.00 for the issuance of a food handler's permit, or renewal of a food handler's permit, which revenues shall go into the general fund of the City of Schertz, Texas.
