77-F-15 ORDINANCE NO. '7'7-;:'- /6-,- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 19-46 (a) AND 19-47 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS; PRO- VIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WHEREAS, based upon careful cost and administrative analysis, it has been determined that there should be certain amendments to the water regulations of the City of Schertz, Texas, as outlined and defined in Chapter 19 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Schertz, Texas, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: I That Section 19-46 (a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Schertz, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Any person who has not pa i d hi s or her water or sewer bi 11 by the twentieth day of the month following the month in which billed shall have his water service discontinued. A notice of this regulation shall be printed on the water bill by the Ci ty . " II That Section 19-47 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Schertz, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "When more than one check issued by the same customer for payment of bills rendered under this article is returned by a bank for insufficient or non-sufficient funds, such customer will be required to pay future bills in cash. The customer will be assessed a fee of five dollars ($5.00) for each and every time an insufficient or non-sufficient funds check is returned to the City, said fee becoming a part of the customer's utility account if left unpaid " to by the customer. Any deviation from this policy will be at the discretion of the superintendent of utilities. III The City Secretary is hereby directed to have this entire ordinance published in one (1) issue of the Valley News, the official newspaper of the City of Schertz, Texas. IV The public importance of this measure constitutes and creates an urgent public necessity requiring that this ordinance be passed and take effect as an emergency measure; and take effect and be in force immediately upon and after its passage.
