PZ 01-28-2015PLANNING AND ZONING MINUTES January 28, 2015 The Schertz Planning and Zoning Commission convened on January 28, 2015 at the Municipal Complex, Council Chambers, 1400 Schertz Parkway Building #4, Schertz, Texas. Mr. Richmond called the meeting to order at 6:10 P.M. HEARING OF RESIDENTS • No one spoke. PUBLIC HEARING A. Hold a public hearing, consider and act upon a request for to change the street name of Schnebly Drive to Hollering Vine from the intersection of Long Leaf Parkway extending north, approximately 2,300 feet to the intersection of Lower Seguin Road. Ms. Wood presented this item by stating that the Applicant is requesting to change the street name of Schnebly Drive to Hollering Vine to provide consistent naming within The Crossvine Subdivision. Currently, Schnebly Drive extends from Lower Seguin Road south to Long Leaf Parkway where it terminates at a roundabout, and Hollering Vine begins on the south side of the roundabout. The existing Hollering Vine is identified on The Crossvine master plan to continue south through the Crossvine Subdivision and eventually intersect with FM 1518 near the 8000 Block of FM 1518 just north of the Washington Tyrannus School of the Arts. Thirty one (3 1) public hearing notices were mailed to property owners adjacent to Schnebly Drive on January 16, 2015 advising them of the proposed street name change. At the time of this meeting five (5) responses were received; three (3) in favor and two (2) opposed to the request with the following comment: Opposed- "Waste of money!" Staff recommends approval of the street name change. Mr. Richmond opened the Public Hearing at 6:14 P.M: • Robert Brockman, 1000 Elbel, asked how many residents living on Schnebly Drive are receiving mail. Minutes Planning and Zoning Commission January 28, 2015 Page I of 2 Mr. Richmond stated that there are no mailboxes now. Mr. Richmond closed the Public Hearing at 6:15 P.M. Mr. Price, the Applicant, stated that this is part of an ongoing effort to bring Sedona into The Crossvine with a common identity, and he will pick up the cost of changing the street signs from Sedona to match those in The Crossvine. Mr. Evans stated that he applauded the effort because he doesn't like to see streets that go straight having 2 names. Mr. Price stated that they will keep the U.S. Postal Service posted. Mr. Crawford moved to approve this item as presented. Mr. Braud seconded the motion. Vote was 5 -0. Motion carried. 4. REQUESTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Requests by Commissioners to place items on a future Planning and Zoning Agenda. • Mr. Richmond stated that Staff has a number of items on their plate. B. Announcements by Commissioners. Mr. Greenwald stated that at the previous night's City Council meeting mention was made that CCMA's permit application for the South Schertz plant has been presented to TCEQ. C. Announcements by City Staff. • None. 5.
