Board Members present: Johnie McDow, Chairman, Reginna Agee, Aundra Davis, Mark Davis
and Sally Macias.
Staff present: Jim Fowler, Councilman, Chuck Van Zandt, Parks Manager, and Sandy Bryant, Sr.
Administrative Assistant.
Others present: Mr. Fred Archer and Mr. Joel Tanner.
Call to order. Meeting was called to order by Johnie McDow, Chairman at 5:36 p.m.
Hearing of residents:
There were no residents who wished to be heard.
Regular Agenda:
Agenda Item No. 1. Minutes. Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes
from the March 23, 2015 regular meeting.
Motion was made to approve the minutes from the March 23, 2015 Schertz Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board regular meeting.

Agenda Item No. 2. Parks Budget. Mr. Chuck Van Zandt briefed the Board that the Parks
Department has requested $935K over five years in deferred maintenance. Portions of the money
will be used to upgrade and maintain current parks and trails in accordance with the Parks Master
Plan approved by the Board. No action was taken on this item.
Agenda Item No. 3. Park Board Fundraising This item is still waiting on legal to see if the Board
can do fundraising since they are not a 501C. Also the question was ask about what the funds
would be used for. No action was taken on this item.
Agenda Item No. 4. Natatorium Update. Mr. Van Zandt briefed the Board that the Request for
Quotes (RFQ) is out for a Construction At -Risk Manager and they are waiting for the natatorium
contract to go to City Council.
Agenda Item No. 5. Berry Creek Park. Mr. Van Zandt briefed that the Berry Creek Park is in a
drainage swell so adding amenities need to go through Mr. Hook. No action was taken on this item.
Agenda Item No. 6. Parks and Facility Maintenance Program Updates Mr. Van Zandt updated the
Board that weed control is now a point of focus. The Dog Park ribbon cutting was rescheduled to
May 15, 2015. The Arroyo Verde tree planting is complete. Live Oak Road and Kensington Ranch
tree planting are scheduled for the fall. Maske Road Soccer Complex landscaping is out for Request
for Proposal (RFP). Parks Department is getting the pools ready for opening soon. No action was
taken on this item.

Agenda Item No. 7. Request by Advisory Board Chairman and Board members for items to be
placed on a future Board a eg nda. The Board requested the following items be placed on future
agendas:
• Woodland Oaks Park.
• Status of new parks.
• Update on Senior Center.
Agenda Item No. 8. Announcements by Advisory Board Chairman and members. The May Parks
Board meeting will be moved to May 18' due to the holiday on May 25tH
