12-02-2016 MinutesMINUTES SPECIAL MEETING December 2, 2016 A Special Teambuilding Session Meeting was held by the Schertz City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, on December 2, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites, 17650 Four Oaks Lane, Schertz, Texas. Discussion and appropriate action on strategic planning issues, employee and City Council team building and proper governance. (J. Kessel) • Team building discussion led by Davis Success Solutions (Facilitators & Participants) - DISC - Role of Leader: Vision/Alignment/Execution In the morning session Roy and Mary Anne Davis made an introduction to Council of the process and program of the teambuilding exercise today to cover what leadership means, the work of leaders: - DISC Model and understanding the model — premise of DISC - DISC Profiles - Work of Leaders Models - Behaviors and how you apply them - Leadership Model — Vision, Alignment, Execution - Vision — three drivers (Exploration, Boldness, Testing Assumptions) 12 -2 -2016 Minutes Page -1- Mayor Carpenter recessed the morning session for lunch break at 11:22 a.m., Mr. Brockman left the meeting. Mayor Carpenter reconvened the meeting at 11:45 a.m. Mr. Brockman returned back to the meeting. The following topics were covered in the afternoon: - Managers vs. Leaders in Execution - Strategy Plans - Building Alignment - Championing Execution — Key components - Team Leadership Strengths - Team Leadership Challenges Mayor Carpenter recessed the meeting at 1:55 p.m., to rearrange the room and allow staff members to join the Council. Mayor Carpenter reconvened the meeting at 2:00 p.m. and members of staff who arrived introduced themselves. Facilitators Roy and Mary Ann provided information regarding: - DISC Profiles the whole team, Council and Management Team as a whole - Comparison Reports - Team will be getting healthier by: (1) build a cohesive leadership team, create clarity, open communication and clarity, re-inforce clarity as a whole.
