The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has installed the State of Texas
Comal Settlement historic plaque at the intersection of Highway 482 and Nacogdoches
Road. If you're in the neighborhood stop and read the historic narrative contained on the
plaque.
The Committee's application for listing of Comal Settlement and/or any of its historic
structures on the National Register of Historic Places remains pending with the Texas
Historical Commission (THC). Current research is underway pertaining to one element of

the application, Saint Joseph's Chapel. More about the chapel's historic connections is
found in the above cited Remembrances Article (2013 -11).
[%;ew replacement banners that designate the Schertz Heritage Neighborhood along FM
78 at First Street are now in place. Be watchful for the banners as you drive past the
location in the weeks ahead.
