AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION
OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LINES OF THE CITY
OF SELMA, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF AN AREA
ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SELMA, TEXAS,
AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN
BY METES AND .BOUNDS AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Selma,
Texass
SECTION The Board of Aldermen of,;the -City of Selma, Texas,
having been petitioned by the qualified voters who
reside in an area within the Extraterritorial Jur-
isdiction of the City of Selma, Texas, such area
lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Selma,
Texas, to annex such territory into the corporate
limits of the City of Selma, Texas, did subsequently
on the 19th Day of September, 1973, cause to be
published in THE WEEKLY HERALD, a locally published
newspaper, such newspaper being the official
newspaper of the City of Selma, Texas, a notice
of a Public Hearing to be held concerning such
proposed annexation, all in accordance with Articles
974 and 970a, Section 6, of Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes.
SECTION II. The aforementioned Public Hearing was held in the
Chambers of the Board of Aldermen in the City Hall
of Selma, Texas, on the 1st Day of October,
1973 at 6 :00 o'clock P.M.
SECTION III. Therefore, by authority of Article 974, of Vernon's
Texas Civil Statutes, it is hereby ordained by
the Board of Aldermen of the City of Selma, Texas,
that upon passage of this ordinance, that land,
territory and area described in ".Exhibit A- 1973"
and colored Red in Exhibit "B- 1973," attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference,
is hereby added and annexed to the City of Selma,
Texas, and said land, territory and area as described
shall hereafter be included within the boundary
limits of the City of Selma, Texas, and the
present boundary limits of the City of Selma,
Texas, at the various points contiguous to the
area described in Exhibit "A- 1973" and shaded
Red in Exhibit "B- 1973" are hereby altered and
.amended to include said area within the corporate
limits of the City of Selma, Texas.
SECTION IV. The territory so described and the area so annexed
shall be part of the City of Selma, Texas, and
the land and property so annexed and the inhab- n
itants thereof shall be entitled to all of the o
rights and privileges of all the citizens and
shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions
and regulations of the City of Selma, Texas.
