ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SCHERTZ, TEXAS AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY BY AMENDING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 50,
MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES AND PROVISIONS, ARTICLE V,
ALARM SYSTEMS, FALSE ALARMS, FORMERLY CHAPTER 10,
ARTICLE V.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, Chapter 50, Article V of the Code of Ordinances was previously codified as
Chapter 10, Article V of such Code.
SECTION I
Chapter 50, Article V, Section 50-160, formerly Chapter 10, Article V, Section 10-86, of the
Code of Ordinances, City of Schertz, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 50-160. Revocation of alarm system permits.
(a) The chief shall revoke an alann system permit ifhe determines that:
(1) There is a false statement of a material matter in the application for permit;
(2) The permit holder has violated any provisions of this Article; or
(3) Eight (8) or more false burglar alarms occurred in a twelve-month period.
(b) A person having an alarm permit revoked pursuant to Section 50-160(a)(3) may reapply for
an alarm system permit sixty (60) days after such revocation occurs.
(c) A person commits a Class C misdemeanor ifhe operates an alarm system during the period
in which his alarm permit is revoked."
SECTION II
Chapter 50, Article V, Section 50-165 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Schertz, Texas is
hereby amended to read as follows:

Alarm permit and service fees shall be as listed below:
Alarm Permit Fee:
Residential
Tier 1 commercial
Tier 2 commercial site alarm system required under local, state or national code

Fifth false alarm within any 12-month period

SECTION III
This Ordinance shall be effective from and after its final passage and any publication required by
the City of Schertz.
SECTION IV
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
