1. CALL TO ORDER

Community Services Director, Gail Douglas, called the May 22, 2006 first meeting of the
Schertz Parks and Recreation Board to order.
2, INTRODUCTIONS
Board members introduced themselves and gave a short summary of why they were interested in
serving on the Parks and Recreation Board.
Councilman Michael Carpenter was introduced and welcomed attendees and thanked them for
serving on the board.
3. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
There were no citizens to be heard.
4. PRESENTATION CONCERNING PARKS MASTER PLAN
Brent Luck, the architect from Land Design was unable to attend the meeting.
5. BOARD MEMBER TERMS ASSIGNED
Terms were assigned by a random drawing. Even numbers will serve one-year terms and odd
numbers will serve two-year terms. Lawrence Brenner, Debbie Roberts, and Wendy Swan will
serve one-year terms. Richard Coon, Mustapha Debboun, Jerry Graham and Johnie McDow will
serve two-year terms.
6. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Richard Coon volunteered to serve as Chairman and Lawrence Brenner volunteered to serve as
Co-Chairman. They were elected unanimously.
7. SET TIME AND DATE FOR FUTURE MEETINGS
The third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. was agreed upon as the time and date for future
meetings of the board.
8. DISCUSSION OF RATES FOR CIVIC CENTER AND COMMUNITY CENTERS
A draft of proposed rates for the civic center and community centers was presented to each
member for their review and recommendations. After some discussion, it was agreed that
members would review the information and present their recommendations at the next meeting.
9. DISCUSSSION OF PARKLAND DEDICATION FEES
Discussion of Parkland Dedication Fees was moved to the next meeting in June.
10. ITEMS BY MEMBERS
No items by members were presented.
11. ITEMS BY STAFF
Staff thanked members for their time and input.
12. ADJOUNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
The next meeting of the Schertz Parks and Recreation Board will be Monday, June 19, 2006 at
7:00 p.m.
