1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Richard Coon called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR MAY 22, 2006 MEETING
Motion was made by Jerry Graham to approve May 22, 2006 minutes, seconded by Aundra
Davis. The vote to approve the minutes was unanimous.
3. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
There were no citizens to be heard.
4. PRESENTATION BY BRENT LUCK CONCERNING MASTER PLAN
His presentation ofthe draft Schertz Parks and Open Space Master Plan fol owed a brief
introduction by Community Services Director, Gail Douglas of Mr. Brent Luck from Land
Design Partners.
5. DISCUSSION OF RATES FOR CIVIC CENTER AND COMMUNITY CENTERS
A draft of proposed rates for the civic center and community centers was presented to each
member for their review and recommendations. Board agreed with the recommended rates and
on recommendation by City Council Liaison agreed to approve and forward the rates to City
Council. Motion to approve the rates was made by Jerry Graham and seconded by Wendy Swan.
The vote to approve the rates was unanimous.
6.OLD BUSINESS
Discussion of Parkland Dedication Fees from the May 22, 2006 meeting moved to the August
meeting.
7. NEW BUSINESS
Richard Coon requested we change the meeting time from 7:00 p.m. to 6:OO.p.m. All members
present agreed.
Wendy Swan asked about the possibility of scheduling a workshop meeting prior to the regular
monthly meeting. Gail Douglas said she would look into the possibility of scheduling one.
S. ITEMS BY MEMBERS
Wendy Swan presented the board with comparative park statistics for Austin, Round Rock, San
Antonio, San Marcos, Schertz, Seguin and Universal City.
9. ITEMS BY STAFF
Staff provided each board member present with a public access option form to sign.
10. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
The next meeting of the Schertz Parks and Recreation Board will be Monday, August 21, 2006 at
6:00 p.m.
