AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING
THE RESULTS OF THE CITY GENERAL ELECTION
HELD IN SAID CITY ON MAY 3, 1997 AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of
a City Council election duly and legally held in the City of
Schertz, Texas, on MAY 3, 1997; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has diligently inquired
into the poll lists and official election returns which were
duly and lawfully made to said City Council by the Judge and
Clerks holding said election; and
WHEREAS, from said returns, this City
finds that there were cast in said election
who were resident qualified electors of

City Council further finds that there were cast in

Councilmember, Place 3 Norman Aqee~ Sr.
received a pluraJity of vo~es cast; and for Councilmember,
Place 4 Tlmothy G. SWlnney received a
plurality of votes cast; and for Councilmember, Place 5
Ken Greenwald received a plurality of
votes cast; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS:

THAT Norman Agee, Sr. is hereby
duly elected Councilmember, Place 3; and
Timothy G. Swinney is hereby duly
duly elected Councilmember, Place 4; and

Councilmember, Place 5 on the City Council of the City of
Schertz, Texas, pursuant to the election duly held within
said City on Saturaay, May 3, 1997

THAT the public importance of this measure constitutes
and creates an urgent necessity to comply with the State
Election Law that requires this Ordinance be passed and take
effect as an emergency measure, and shall take effect and be
in force immediately upon and after its passage.
