96-E-10 Elections ORDINANCE NO. 96' -,[' - / CJ AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OFFICER ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE FOURTH DAY OF MAY, 1996, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of a City Council election duly and legally held in the City of Schertz, Texas, on May 4, 1996, and WHEREAS, this City Council has diligently inquired into the poll lists and official election returns which were duly and lawfully made to said City Council by the judge and clerks holding said election; and WHEREAS, from said returns, this City finds that there were cast in said election who were resident qualified electors of following votes: Council hereby by those voters the City the POSITION CANDIDATE VOTES Mayor Hal Baldwin 679 261 George ~1ower Councilmember, Place 1 Charles L. McDonald 557 Jerry Graham 344 Councilmember, Place 2 Joe Potempa 758 and, WHEREAS, from the above tabulation and findings, this City Council further finds election a total of 945 Hal Baldwin votes cast; and for Charles L. McDonald votes cast; and for Joe Potempa votes cast; NOW THEREFORE, that there were cast in said votes and that for Mayor received a plurality of Councilmember, Place 1 received a plurality of Councilmember, Place 2 received a plurality of BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: I THAT Hal Baldwin is hereby duly elected Mayor; Charles L. McDonald is hereby duly elected Councilmember, Place 1 and Joe Potempa is hereby duly elected Councilmember, Place 2, on the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, pursuant to the election duly held within said City on May 4, 1996. II THAT the public importance of this measure constitutes and creates an urgent necessity to comply with the State Election Law that requires this ordinance be passed and take effect as an emergency measure, and shall take effect and be in force immediately upon and after its passage.
