BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING
MAY 18, 1993
The Schertz Board of Adjustment convened Tuesday, May 18,
1993 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal
Complex, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas. The
following members were present: Earl W. Sawyer, presiding;
Joe Potempa; Hal Baldwin; Barbara Stanhope; Mary Marsh
and Ken Greenwald. Staff present were City Manager Kerry
Sweatt and City Secretary June Krause.
Mayor Sawyer opened the meeting by asking everyone to stand
and join him in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Sawyer then recognized Alba C. Richburg of 1005 Fawn
Drive as the City of Schertz "Star of the Month" for April.
He read a proclamation to this effect and presented it to
Mrs. Richburg, along with a beautiful filled basket from
"The Pecan House", one of our local businesses. Mayor
Sawyer expressed to Mrs. Richburg how proud the City is to
have her as one of our citizens.
#1 PUBLIC HEARING: .The purpose of the public hearing
was for the Board of Adjustment to receive citizen comments
on the request by Sue Martin of 2705 Hidden Grove Lane,
Schertz, Texas, for a Special Exception to the Zoning
Ordinance allowing her to extend a deck and cover 4' into
the required rear yard setback.
Mr. Sweatt advised that we had received a letter from Sue
Martin expressing her sincere regrets that she would be
unable to attend this meeting because of previous
commitment. She urged Council's favorable consideration of
her request.
Mr. Sweatt related that 45 letters were mailed to property
owners within three hundred feet of this address and eight
were returned - all in favor of granting the request. This
was first brought to Planning & Zoning and after their
review, they recommended this hearing and favorable
consideration of the request for a Special Exception.
Mayor Sawyer asked if there were any citizens who wished to
speak on this request - there were none. Nor were there any
comments from Council.
#2 Consider and take action on the above request by
Sue Martin.
