REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 3. 1992
The Schertz City Council convened in Regular Session, Tuesday,
March 3, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the
Municipal Complex, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas. The
following members were present: Mayor Earl W. Sawyer.
presiding; Barbara Stanhope, Mary Marsh and Ken Greenwald.
Absent: Hal Baldwin and Joe Potempa. Staff present were City
Manager Kerry Sweatt and Deputy City Secretary Alice Austin.
Mayor Sawyer opened the meeting and asked those present to join
him in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mrs. Stanhope moved to approve the minutes of the Special
Meeting of 2-12-92 and the Regular Meeting of 2-18-92. Mrs.
Marsh seconded the motion which carried with the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Stanhope, Marsh and Greenwald
NAYS: None
#2 HEARING OF RESIDENTS: None
#3 ORDINANCE: Consider and take action on the first reading
of an ordinance on the proposed annexation of three tracts of
land containing approximately 250.96 acres out of Guadalupe
County.
Mayor Sawyer introduced an ordinance and read the caption as
follows:
AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE BOUNDARY LINES OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BY THE ANNEXATION OF THREE TRACTS
OF LAND CONTAINING 250.96 ACRES OF LAND OUT OF GUADALUPE
COUNTY.

2. Advised that the Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary
would be having a bake sale on Saturday.
~ary_~~rsh: Advised that Roaring 50's Dance being sponsored by
the Business Club would be held on March 14 starting at 8:30 pm
at the V.F.W. Hall. She further advised that all proceeds were
designated for the fireworks display for the 4th of July Jubilee.
Ken Greenwald: 1. Advised that P&Z has an opening and that the
city will go over the applications and make a selection.
2. BVYA closing ceremonies for basketball will be held at 9:00
a.m. Saturday at Corbett Gym.
3. BVYA opening ceremonies for baseball will be held at 9:00
a.m. April 4. He further advised that BVYA currently has 500
players making up 4S teams and that the Girls State Tournament
had been confirmed for July.

Mayor Sawyer advised that just because the city has granted a
franchise to Excel this did not mean that Paragon Cable was gOing
to leave the city. He said this would create competition.
#7 ADJOURNMENT: On a motion by Mrs. Marsh and second by Mr.
Greenwald and unanimous approval the meeting was adjourned at
7: 10 p.m.
