S BOA 09-01-1992 282 " \ SCHERTZ BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT SEPTEMBER 1, 1992 The Schertz Board of Adjustment convened on September 1, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Complex, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas. The following members were present: Earl W. Sawyer, presiding; Joe Potempa; Hal Baldwin; Barbara Stanhope; Mary Marsh and Ken Greenwald. Mr. Sawyer opened the meeting by asking everyone to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Sawyer then presented Mr. Pete Hatten a proclamation, naming him the Schertz "Star of the Month" for September. Mr. Sweatt advised a notification of this presentation would be in the next Newsletter. He expressed our appreciation for Mr. Hatten's caring and said a neighbor had really spoken highly of Mr. Hatten. He then gave Mr. Hatten a gift certificate from La Pasadita. #1 PUBLIC HEARING: The BOA will hold a public hearing to receive citizen comments on a request by M.L. and Dorothy Coons, 2800 Hidden Grove, for an exception to allow them to encroach into the easement at the back of their lot and into the required setback for the main building. Mr. Sweatt said this request has been reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission and again explained the request. P&Z heard the request and after review, moved to deny the request as being against the Zoning Ordinance. Twenty-five letters were mailed to property owners within three hundred feet of this property, with eight answers being received. Five were in favor of granting the request and three were against. Mr. Coons said he hoped this could be settled so they could get their building and their things stored like he wanted to. Mr. Sawyer closed the public hearing at 7:04 p.m. #2 Consider and take action on the above public hearing request. Mr. Greenwald moved to concur with the Planning & Zoning and reject the requested variance. Mr. Baldwin seconded the motion, which carried with the following vote: AYES: Mr. Potempa, Mr. Baldwin, Mrs. Stanhope, Mrs. Marsh and Mr. Greenwald.
