#5 CITY MANAGER'S REPORT: A. Reminder of the
Metrocom Chamber of Commerce meeting the next day at
Municipal Building in Live Oak.
B, The Goals packet will be ready by Friday, July 19th and
can be picked up.
C, There will be no Council meeting the week of July 22nd.
#6 ITEMS BY COUNCIL: Mr. Baldwin called attention
to a show on Channel 5 TV, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at
both 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm where a gentleman talks about
zoning. He really gets away from the traditional zoning and
it is a very interesting program.
Mrs. Marsh reported on the VFW meeting the previous night.
She said they did very well on the 4th of July, making about
$1892.76. The next Saturday they will have their monthly
breakfast and you can take advantage of that and then get
your car washed by the Boy Scouts. She then brought up the
three issues on the August 10th election that are very
important. One is a question of a twenty percent exemption
on homestead, another is the question of an exemption of
$10,000 on homestead for disabled and those 65 or older.
The third issue concerns taxation of personal property and
should be voted down.
Mr. Baldwin added that what Mrs. Marsh said was correcti
however, he was meeting with the Business Club because the
businesses needed to know what these issues would really
mean to them if they passed.
#7 ITEMS BY MAYOR: Mayor Sawyer said he wanted to
congratulate BVYA on another great tournament. He received
many compliments on our City parks.
Mr. Baldwin extended an invitation to all Councilmembers to
the Grand Opening of the Windmill Restaurant in Cibolo on
Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock.
