16 I~ BY COURCIL: Mr. Hartzog: A. the United Suburban
Cities Commit-tee will meet Thursday, June 23rd at 3:11 p.m. at
Universal City City Hall. A representative of HUD will be
present, talking about the way Bexar County is using grant
monies. Schertz is still considered a part of the Bexar County
Grant funds.
B. the information on the proposed warrants should be placed on
a w<>rkshop so the proposal can be approved by Council. Mr.
Hartzog said he would like to have copies of the current policy
also.
Mr. Baldwin: reminded everyone of the bus tour of the City
Wednesday evening at 6:~I p.m. P&Z and Councilmembers are to
meet in front of Kountry Kitchen.
Mr. Aguilar: A. Last Friday he attended a meeting of the
Edwards Underground Water District. It was very interesting, and
he suggested that next time perhaps our water department people
could attend. It was held like a seminar with 18 round table
discussions. They stressed conservation of water on the long
term basis; using Texas plants for landscaping; reuse of water;
and they stressed that public officials keep the public informed.
They have all sorts of information we can ask for and distribute 0
to our citizens. They have a school established program - if you
instruct the small children in conservation, they will grow to
adulthood knowing about conversation. They suggested you could
use graduating water rates as a conservation method; pass
building codes to include conservation appliances. Also said
they have equipment to detect leaks for rent. There was a
definite indication that surface water is going to be needed.
There were a lot of representatives from our local area present.
B. Last night Dr. Richard had the first meeting of the Charter
Review Committee. They each got copies of other city charters
and will exchange ideas. They have asked that each CouncilmemPer
write down his ideas and give to Mrs. Krause, who will pass on to
the committee.
Mr. Greenwald: BVYA will be hosting South Texas Baseball
district and regional tournaments starting next Monday. Although
it is not a requirement, have asked for additional police patrols
for the area. Council should be getting a letter on the start
time of each tournament.
Mayor Sawyer asked the City Manager to ask the police to make a
point of driving by every so often, and stop for a few minutes
for better public relations.
Mr. Aguilar advised that the Charter Review Committee will be
meeting each Monday at 7:11 p.m. in the Conference Room and
everyone is invited to attend.
