Bueker, Gail Hyatt, Earl W. Sawyer and Earl Johnson. Absent: Richard L. Howe and Walter F. Schneider. Staff present: City Manager Walter W. Hill, Jr., and City Secretary June G. Krause. #1 PUBLIC ZONING HEARINGS: Chairman Aguilar of the Planning and Zoning Commission explained the joint meeting was to have public hearings on two separate items. A. The first public hearing was to receive citizen input on the rezoning of four tracts of land being .283 acres, .670 acres, .663 acres and .352 acres being out of a 20.075 acre tract out of the T. Herrera Survey No. 68 from temporary pre-development zoning to a N. S. Neighborhood Services District. There were approximately 28 citizens present. Mr. Donald Laver, 5318 Cabana Drive; Mr. William Eickenloff, I 35; and Mr. Ken Anderson, 5317 Plaza Drive were pres~t and after discussion the possible affect the zoning change would have on'taxes and services, all agreed they were not opposed to the zoning change. Also Mr. Aguilar stated he had re- ceived letters or phone calls from owners of adjacent land not present, that they were not opposed to the change. ~1. 184 There being no further discussion concerning this proposed zoning change, Chairman Aguilar declared this public hearing closed at 7:27 P.M. B. Chairman Aguilar then introduced ZC-17 Zoning as being the proposed rezoning of all lots located within the block which abutts the following streets: Main, Randolph, Exchange, and Lindberg; also the following four parcels of land being a .367 acre tract out of the G. Malpaz Survey (409- 415 Main "Mr. Mil), 2.032 acres out of the Schertz-Rowell-Classen Survey (403-405 Main - Highlander Center); a .50 acre tract out of the G. Malpaz Survey (417Main - Post Office) and a .267 acre tract out of the G. Malpaz Survey (408 Exchange - apartments) from R-2 Single Family Dwelling District to G.B. General Business District. Edward Niland, Ellen Horne, Laura Jonietz, Mrs. Wa1tisperger, Mrs. Sanchez, Mr. Hollingsworth and Mrs. Reicherzer all questioned the panel. Some of the questions were: what type of business could go into this zoning; how it would affect their taxes and could they maintain their property as residential, even it they sell it, etc. Mr. Niland was the only citizen to say he definitely wanted the area to re- main R-2. There being no further discussion, Chairman Aguilar closed the public hearing at 8:00 P.M. and declared a short recess in order for the P&Z and Council to go to their separate meetings. Mayor Bueker reconvened the Council meeting at 8:20 P.M. in the Conference Room. #2 WORKSHOP: Council met in workshop session. #3 ADJOURNMENT: On a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
