ccph-06-14-1977 C); C'J ~ ~ -"" -- ~ 13 PUBLIC HEARING The Schertz City Council held a Public Hearing June 14, 1977, Tuesday, at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 401 Oak Street, with the following mem- bers present: Mayor Robert C. Bueker, presiding; Richard L. Howe, Donald J. Seeba, Walter F. Schneider, Earl W. Sawyer, and Earl Johnson. Also pre- sent were City Manager Denny L. Arnold, and City Secretary June Krause. Mayor Bueker explained the purpose of the Public Hearing is to obtain citi- zen input pertaining to the annexation of 31.42 acres of land in Comal County. This annexation is being considered at the request of the owner in order to have it rezoned for "Showtime City". Mr. McIver representing "Showtime City" explained his enterprise is for an entertainment center in a controlled atmophere. The problems people have heard about it are things such as the Wi 11 is Nel son 4th of July concert whi ch was not in a planned area and not controlled. The plan is for 7 shows a year, with various types of entertainment. But of course, they would lease it out but would still maintain contnol. He assured the group that there would be no "hippy" or hard rock concerts. Their shows will only last about 4 hours. At this point the Mayor asked for comments pro or con from the audience. the following were amoung the people that spoke, all of them against the "Showtime City" annexation: Adela Leckett, JDR. Love, Mr. O. F. Knight, Roman Schertz, Louis Montesi, Mr. Martinez, Jim Biggs, Roman Freobese, Paul Davis, Ray Bacon, A. F. wiedman and Mr.s Fred Love. Mayor Bueker asked the four adjOining property owners that were all present if they were all against the annexation and they all agreed they were.
