A special meeting of the City Council convened at the direction of Mayor Roy W.
RichArd. Aldermen in attendance were HI's. Bobbie L. Koch, YJ'. LeonR. Ch:.1mbless,
Mr. Robe'~ S. Schwartz, Mr. Jimmie V. Dunham and Mr. RaT-nand G. Koym.
Discussion was held on the proposed fiscal y~ar 1972 City 5uiget. }tr. Dunham
was asked to investigate the possible purchase of surplus equipment. City Secretary
was instruct8d to write a letter to southwestern bell telephone investigating the
telephone rate for the fire department.
Prelininary discussion was held on 1971 bond issues. Park Development was discussed
and another meeting scheduled for June 10 to be attended by representatives of major
swimm"ng pool construction companies. Road improvement bond was also discussed briefly,
encompassing the paving of Pfeil Ave between Curtiss and Brooks Aves; the widening and
paYing of Live Oak Road from Curtiss Ave to the bend of Live Oak Road; the paving of
Slbel Road from Live Oak Road to fl-I )009 and the construction of two bridges across the
drainage canal on Live Oak Aoad and Elbel Road. Additional meetings will be held on
bond proposals.

~\ A petition for annexation of Parkland Village Suhdivision was acceJted following
'{ a motion by Hr. Chambless, seconded, by l-ir. Koym and voted on unanimously. Public
U hearing for this proposed annexation was set for June 24, 1971 at 7:)0 p.m.
Discussion Has held on a variation to the subdivision ordinance as requested by
petition of D~er Haven sub:iivision residents. There was unanimous agreement that the
existing subdivision ordinance should not be changed. It was further requested that
it be recorded in these legal minutes that 11r. Wile', lIre Lionberger and }fro Brehm (all
of Deer Haven subdivision), vdth a show of hands at a public hearing held in the Fire
Station on May 1), 1971, requested sewer lines be provided the Deer Haven subdivision
vrhen practiCAl. All other residents of the subdivision attending the meeting on the
afore:ilentioned date declined the proposal for installation of sewers in the area.
Discussion was held on the illegal parking of trailers at the Starlite Theater and
the A.J. Plouch Texaco station. There was unanimous agreement that the present zoning
law prohibiting parking of trailers except in authorized trailer parks be enforced and that
trailers in question be requested to move from the premises Hithin )0 days after formal
notificntion.
