06-03-1975 2Gl REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JUNE 3, 1975 The Schertz City Council convened in Regular Session, Tuesday, June 3, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 401 Oak Street, with the following members present: Mayor Robert C. Bueker, presiding; Donald J. Seeba, Ed L. Sharpe, Walter F.Schneider and Gail Hyatt. Absent: Nell G. Funk. Also City Manager Denny L. Arnold and City Secretary June G. Krause present. #1 APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A. Regular Meeting of May 20, 1975. Mrs. Hyatt requested the vote on Item #9 be corrected to show that she voted against the motion. Mr. Sharpe moved to accept the minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 20, 1975 as corrected. Mrs. Hyatt seconded the motion which carried with the follow- ing vote: AYES: Mr. Seeba, Mr. Schneider, Mr. Sharpe and Mrs. Hyatt. NAYS: None. #2 HEARING OF RESIDENTS: There were no residents wishing to be heard on non-agenda items. #3 PLANNING & ZONING MINUTES: The minutes of the Planning & Zoning meeting of May 21, 1975 were not available at this time. Chief Schoonover presented the portfolios of the two new patrolmen just hired for Council perusal and introduced the men to the Council. #4 ORDINANCE: The first reading of an ordinance approving a rate in- crease for Entex was tabled at this time as the breaK- down given the City Manager was not complete enough to analyze properly. #5 BID AWARD: Mr. Arnold explained that City Engineer Howard Gaddis had taken some informal bids for the construction of a water line to service Country Corner area. After Council discussion and consideration, Mr. Arnold asked for and received authorization for the City to purchase approximately 2000 feet of 2" PVC pipe for this water line. #6 OAK FOREST/DEER HAVEN SUBDIVISIONS; Council discussed at length several items concerning easements, rights-of-way and sewer lines in the Oak Forest and Deer Haven Subdivisions. #7 BVYA TOURNAMENT: The Buffalo Valley Youth Association requested the use of the ball park area facilities to host a Boys Baseball District baseball/softball tournament. In order to finance this tournament, they requested permission to charge a small fee for parking and permission to solicit donations from the spectators. .- rI' '~" ; ..., Mr. Schneider moved to allow BVYA to charge admission or solicit donations q , but not to charge for parking. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion which carried with the following vote: 1"_ _u. 262 AYES: NAYS: Mr. Seeba, Mr. Schneider, Mr. Sharpe and Mrs. Hyatt. None #8 PREVIOUSLY TABLED SUBJECTS: (4) Drainage Improvements. Council discussed several drainage problem areas which had been again brought to the attention of Council members. (8) HOMECRAFT SUBDIVISION - Mr. Arnold briefed the Council on a meeting he, Mr. Farr and Mayor Bueker attended with representatives of Homecraft at the FHA office in San Antonio concerning financing of the Homecraft subdivision. (7) Newsletter Review: Council reviewed the proposed newsletter for the month of May and approved it as amended. #9 GENERAL DISCUSSION: Chief Schoonover briefed the Council on his meeting with Mr. Gene Sparks, Texas Highway Department representative, concerning the traffic light at the Cibolo Creek bridge. #10 ADJOURNMENT: Mrs. Hyatt moved the meeting be adjourned at 11 :35 P.M.. The motion was seconded by Mr. Walter Schneider and carried with a unanimous vote. ATTEST: .~ "(? dL ~eker, Mayor City of Schertz a~fi/~ Ci~Secretary, City of Schertz PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JUNE 10,1975 The Schertz City Council held a Public Hearing, Tuesday, June 10, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 401 Oak Street, with the following members present: Mayor Robert C. Bueker, presiding; Nell G. Funk, Donald J. Seeba, Walter F. Schneider, Ed L. Sharpe and Gail Hyatt. Also present were City Manager Denny L. Arnold, Engineer Howard Gaddis and City Secretary June G. Krause. The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear all evidence relative to the proposed annexation of 266.035 acres of land out of Guadalupe County on IH 35. There were no citizens present to voice opinions on the annexation. After general discussion by the Council, Mayor Bueker declared the Public Hearing closed at 7:27 P.M.
