The Animal Care Advisory Committee of the City of Schertz, Texas held a regul
meeting on May 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Schertz Animal Shelter, 800 Community Circl

A motion was made by Dr. Knowlton to approve the minutes of February

2. Introduction of new Shelter Manager — Asst. Chief it introduced Megan Lagunas
the new Shelter mgr. Megan outshined the other applicants with her knowledge that
she has gained throughout the years.

• No customer complaints since last update
• Community concerns, Wildlife in yard, dead animals on roadway, feral
cats, dog bites, dogs at large and wildlife in yards.

4. HVAC Review/Project Update -Scott McClelland The contractor has been awarded
the bid as the replacement process has been in process for about six years. October time
frame is when the process is set to start. In the meantime temporary work areas are
being set up for the staff.
Impact of COVID on Animal Services — Asst. Chief Bane filled in everyone
regarding the impacts covid had on the shelter. Adoptions were up and animals in the
shelter were down.

12. Requests by Committee Members for items be placed on a future Animal Care
Advisory Committee Agenda: Council woman Heyward congratulated Megan on her
promotion. Also the adoption trailer news for the next meeting. Feral cats are a concern for
Lisa Connolly and she would like to «e? z on a future meeting.
13. Adjournment: Asst. Chief Bane adjourned the meeting at 6:32pm
