AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BE
AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLE ~V, SPEED
REGULATIONS, SECTION 18-76, MAXIMUM LIMITS
IN SCHOOL ZONES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS:
SECTION I
THAT, Section 18 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
amended by revising Section 18-75 to read as follows'
Schertz, Texas be
"Sec. 18-75 Maximum limit in school zones.
it shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any motor vehicle at a rate
of speed in excess of that which is posted within a school speed zone, the limits
of which shall be designated by school speed limit signs, on any day of any
regular or any special or summer school term. Those designations are between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9'00 a.m. and between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and
4:30 p.m. It shall also be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any motor
vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of that which is posted dudng the hours when
the lights are flashing."
SECTION 2
THAT this Ordinance shall be effective from and after its final passage and any
publication roquirod by the City Charter.
SECTION 3
THAT all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 4
THAT the need for timeliness requires this Ordinance to be acted on as an
emergency, requiting the suspension of the Charter provision that no ordinance
be passed on the day it is introduced, and such Charter provision is accordingly
suspended and this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency moasure.
