AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING
SECTION 18-76 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR SPEED
LIMITS ON INTERSTATE 35 MAIN LANES AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation and
the City of Schertz believe a safety precaution, in the
form of lowered speed limits, is needed during the
estimated two-year construction period on IH-35 from FM
3009 to the north City limits; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS:

THAT Section 18-76 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Schertz, Texas be amended to read as follows:
"Section 18-76. Maximum limits on specific streets.
Street Extent Speed Limit
Interstate 35 From FM 3009 to the Cars:
Main Lanes South City limits
70 MPH Day
65 MPH Night
Trucks:
60 MPH Day
55 MPH Night
Interstate 35 From FM 3009 to the Cars & Trucks
Main Lanes North City limits
55 MPH
At all Times
II
THAT all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with this ordinance are hereby repealed."
