AUTHORIZING TIlE CITY MANAGER T () ENTER INTO A CONTRACT
WITH TilE TEXAS DEPARTMENT Ol~ TRANSPORTATION FOR A
SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FOR TilE PERIOD OF
MAY 1, 2007 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2007.
WHEREAS, in order to promote use of seatbf Its and compliance with speed limit
regulations, it is the intention of the City of Sc lIertz to enter into contract with the
Texas Department of Transportation for a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program;
and
WHEREAS, the Schertz Police Department ha; determined that a Selective Traffic
Enforcement Program should be executed in th e City of Schertz in order to increase
seatbelt use and to ensure compliance with spee illimit regulations.
NOW, TIlEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED B',k" HIE CITY COUNCIL OF TilE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT, the City Council of Schertz hereby app.'oves of this program and its benefits
for the citizens of Schertz and authorizes a contract with the Texas Department of
Transportation to conduct a Selective Traffic Program during the period of May 1,
2007 through June 30, 2007.
FURTHER, that the City Manager of the City of Schertz is hereby authorized and
directed to execute the necessary forms, applic2ltions and legal documents as may be
required in order to finalize the grant and contract.
