TSAC 12-06-2007 TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES December 6, 2007 The Transportation Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) convened on December 6, 2007 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers Workshop Conference Room, 1400 Schertz Parkway Bldg 4, Schertz, Texas. 1. Call to order at 6:37 p.m. Members not present: Joseph Ward Tracy Bean Ronald White, Sr Stephen Bish Members present: Andy Bores-Chairman Patricia Ramirez - Vice Chairman Larry Franklin Christopher Coronado Max Hernandez David Scagliola Sam Willoughby, Public Works Director Steve Starr, Police Chief 2. Introduction of TSAC members 3. Hearing of residents. Rudy Burgos - Present to discuss Item #7, thank you for striping Woodland Oaks and Schertz Pkwy. Robert Brockman - Woodland Oaks Drive looks good. 4. Approval of Minutes Motion to Accept November minutes - Patricia Ramirez Second: Larry Franklin -All Ayes- 5. Discussion and possible action on recommending reappointment of expired members applications. Andy Bores, Larry Franklin and Joseph Ward are up for renewal. Motion to submit recommendation to Council for renewal of Andy Bores and Larry Franklin - Patricia Ramirez Second - Max Hernandez -All Ayes- Motion to send letter to Mr. Ward regarding expiration of Term - Patricia Ramirez Second - Max Hernandez -All Ayes- Open vacancy for Joseph Ward available. 6. Discussion and possible action on changing TSAC meeting time from 6:30 pm to either 6:00 pm or 5:30 pm. After lengthy discussion, commission members agreed on a three (3) month trial of 5:30 pm for meetings. After three month trial, a final decision will be made during April 2008 meeting. Motion for Trial - Larry Franklin Second - Patricia Ramirez -All Ayes- 7. Discussion and possible action regarding safety issues on Woodland Oaks Drive between Schertz Parkway and Woodbridge Way in regards to island and visibility for drivers at the intersection. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Willoughby discussed and explained corrections made to area. Lighting still an issue to Mr. Burgos. Mr. Taylor advised that once the area is developed, lighting will not be an issue. Motion to Close - Andy Bores -All Ayes- 8. Discussion and possible action regarding article in Schertz Tales. Brad Bailey will be doing an article per Don Taylor. Agenda item to be removed from future agendas. 9. City Council Update David Scagliola briefed the commission on the ongoing issues being discussed by City Council. Permanent agenda item - no action required. 10. General discussion items by Commission Members for inclusion on next month's agenda or items for Public Works Director information and action.
