TSAC 05-03-2007 TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES May 3, 2007 The Transportation Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) Convened on Thursday May 3,2007 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers Workshop Conference Room, 1400 Schertz Parkway Bldg 4, Schertz, Texas. 1. Call to order at 6:30 p.m. Members not present: Chris Coronado Stephen Bish Joseph Ward Members present: Andy Bores-Chairman Patricia Ramirez, Vice Chairman Tracy Bean Max Hernandez David Scagliola John Trayhan James MacSorley Sam Willoughby Chief Stephen Starr 2. Introduction of TSAC members 3. Hearing of residents. Robert Brockman Barbara Wells Robert Brockman: IH 35 Access - Riata Subdivision - Fairlawn Ave. No signage on access road indicating a one- way street. Public Works to contact TxDot. Schertz Parkway and Savannah - Pedestrian Crossing light out - Public Works will correct. 311 Service to be added to City of Schertz Barbara Wells: Sidewalk started along golf course area. Agenda items 5 & 6 4. Approval of Minutes Motion to Accept April Minutes - John Trayhan Second: Pat Ramirez -All Ayes- 5. Discussion and possible action on sidewalks and speeding issues on Pebble Beach and Columbia in the Fairways at Scenic Hills Subdivision. (Carried over from April) 6. Discussion and possible action of placement of stop signs on Pebble Beach and Columbia in The Fairways at Scenic Hills Subdivision. (Carried over from April) Traffic study completed. Sam Willoughby discussed results. Police department does not feel stop signs are warranted at this time. Sidewalks are being handled by Leonard Truitt. Motion to Close Items 5 & 6 - James Mac Sorley Second - Patricia Ramirez -All Ayes- 7. Discussion and possible action regarding deer crossing signs posted on FM 3009. Resident complaints concerning carnage on road. City of Schertz does not have jurisdiction. David Scagliola to notify resident of outcome. Motion to Close - Patricia Ramirez Second - John Trayhan -All Ayes- 8. Discussion and possible action regarding safety issues concerning bicycle lanes at Savannah Drive and Schertz Parkway. TSAC Representatives and City Staff met on site Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 4:00 pm to discuss possible resolutions to the problem. Suggested solution: Move bike lane back 100 feet, to where school zone actually ends, place delineators along bike lane to keep drives off. This will create a longer right turn lane. Area needs to be restriped. Motion to recommend to council- James MacSorley Second - John Trayhan -All Ayes- 9. Discussion and possible action regarding article in Schertz Tales. Max Hernandez presented article to Andy Bores who turned article to Cindy Raleigh for submission into Schertz Tales. Article to appear in June issue. Permanent agenda item - no action required. 10. City Council Update David Scagliola briefed the commission on the ongoing issues being discussed by City Council. Permanent agenda item - no action required. 11.General discussion items by Commission Members for inclusion on next month's agenda or items for Public Works Director information and action.
