The April monthly meeting Qf the Schertz Y Quth CQmmission was called tOo Qrder by Emily
Furillo, President, at 6:30 pm.

Mrs. MatlQck we1cQmes everyone tOo the meeting and introduces the guest CQuncil Member TQny
Wilenchik. Mr. Wilenehik discussed<the Doggy Dash on Saturday May 19t1\ He announces that
people are needed for traffic control and time announcers. The race begins at 8:00 am, and
vQlunteers need to _ive at7:003Ul. He also informs the commission that the whtl1e event will
be Qver by 10:45. He asks that members QfthecQmmission email Mrs. Matlock if they wish tOo
vQlunteer.
Emily brings up the new 10gQ. She draws a sketch Qf a possible choice for Qne.
Travis IDQVeS to the next agenda item while Emily finishes her sketch. The Air FQfce, Band
cQncessiQn stand and The Senior Citizen PrQm are discussed under budget items. Thebtl.dget is
set Qut as the following:
$1000 - new tee shirts and polQ shirts
Some amount for SYC pins. (It is not currently known hQW much pins will CQst)
SQme amQunt for Youth Conference (It is not currently known hQW much the conference will
CQst)
$500 - The SYC 2006-07 Reward Day
This all totals to $5000.
Chris moves to accept this set out budget. Katie secQnds, a vote is taken and all VQte aye.
Mrs. StQhr reminded the cQmmissiQn Qf the viewing Qf the AttQrney General's Training for Open
Meetings Act video at 6:30 pm Qn MQnday, April 23 in the BOob Andrews Confer~nce Room.
Travis begins discussion on the SYC Reward Day Qn June 9. The choices for an 00, tivity were
, ' .
Splashtown, Fiesta Texas, Schlitterbahn, Ice Skating, (CQsmic) Bowling, Sea WQrld, or Laser
Quest. The commission still wished to eat at RainfQrest Cafe for ~r. The top 2 choices were
Ice Skating (1) and Cosmic BQwling (2). It was decided that if the cOnimission went ice skating,
they WQuld skate at Northwoods Skating Rink frQm abQut 11 am - 3 pm, then have dinner at
RainfQrestCafe at 6:30 pm. This would be follQwed by a PQssible IMAX movie.
Emily begins discussion for the name of the new teen library room. Chris 'shares sugg~tions he
received in an email frQID. library patron, VictQria Sheets. She suggested the foUQwingnames:

A suggestion frQma member of the cQmmissiQn was "The Oasis." Mrs. Stohr and the
cQmmissiQn like that suggestion. Katie mQves tOo accept "The Oasis" as the new name for the
new teen library, TraVis seconds. A vote is called and all VQte aye. Mrs. Stohr adds that with
that name she would decorate the room with rainfQrest decQr.
Emily shifts and discusses the SYC by-laws. It came tOo her attention tl,1at the reapplicatiQn
process was not specified in the by-laws. Megan discusses the possibility of all current members
and PQssible members applying each year.
Emily discusses the PQssi:bly Qf specifying in the by-laws that the cQmmissiQn caters to different
age groups. Chris opposes her and agrees with the way it is stated currently as simply "youth"
and is nQt age specific.
Emily ;bringsup, from the by-laws, the yearly report due tOo CQuncil by April 30th about the
previous year and the upcoming year. For the upcQming year it is tOo include and Town Hall
meeting, a possible schQol fundraiser, and the possibility ,Qf breaking the commission dQwn intQ
small cQmmittees.
Next in the by-laws, Emily brings up the attendance policy, and how it will be more thQfoughly
enfQrced next year.
Mrs. Stohr brings up the 4thQf July, and a PQssible cQncession fundraiser fQr SYC. Itis also
,added that maybe the commission CQuld build a flQat for the parade.
Chris mQves back tOo the logo discussiQn frQJ;D. earlier and mQves that we add this item on the
agenda fQr the next meeting to further discuss it. Travis secQnds. A VQte is called and allvote
aye.
