SYC 09-18-2006 SCHERTZ YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING September 18,2006 The September monthly meeting of the Schertz Youth Commission was called to order by Emily Furillo, President, at 6:34 pm. Megan introduces the guest, Nicki Stohr from the Schertz Public Library. Nicki tells us that there is naming contest taking place for the new library. She also informs us that the new library will have a teen-only center. She wants us to think about what constitutes a teen and what could we put in the teen library. Old Business: Chris motions to accept last months minutes, Katie seconds, a vote is called and all vote aye. Chris then motions to accept the By-Laws, Travis seconds, a vote is called and all vote aye. New Business: A discussion is led by Mrs. Ellis regarding the ALS Event scheduled.for September 23,2006. Several members then sign up for times to work the children's' moon bounces. Board Member Items: Mrs. Ellis suggests that members discuss and try to fmd an emblem for our new shirts. She informs us that she needs the new emblem by Friday, Septem~r 22. Travis suggests he will use the company Gaddy Ink to find an emblem. The shift colors are decided on: a royal blue shirt, with white lettering that says "Schertz Youth Commission". Mrs. Ellis informs us that TSAC would like a youth commission member to sit on its board. They meet the first ThursdaY' of every month at 6:30. Emily nominates Travis for this, David also nominates Chris. Christina would also like to go. Mrs. Ellis tells us that the new members Michael Slater and John Rippetoe will be officially appointed at the next city council meeting at 7:00pm. Mrs. Ellis brings us the Festival of Angels and informs us that she will need volunteers for December 15t and 2nd (Friday night and Saturday morning). Mrs. Pennington then brings up the Wodds' Largest Hug. She tells us that she needs volunteers to help at the event. Meeting was adjourned at 7:21 pm.
