A RESOLUTION
DECLARING 'l'HE INTENT OF '[HE CI'lY OF SC!{ER'fZTO PROVIDE. OPlm~TION',\ND .1
MAIN'1'gNANCE SERVICES FOR SCHAEFER ROAD RURAL WATER SUPPLY CORPOnATION
AND AUTHORIZING THE MANAGER OF UTILITIES rOENTER INTO NEOOTIATIONS
FOR A CONTRACT FOR SUCH SERVICES
wHEREAS, Schaefer Road Rural\1iater Supply Corporation,s non-profH
corporation charted by the State of 'l'exas, has undertaken to provide
water service to an area adjacent to andcontiguoua with the City
Limits of the City of Schertz; and .
WHEREAS, said Corporation has contracted.wHh the City of ;3cn'1t'tz
to buy water from the City's distribution systelll. and haa 1ICDrked
closely dth the City. in developing plans to furnish .aervioe to a
rural area, much of which Hes within the extraterritorial Juris-
diction of the City of Schertz and which will in the future be in-
corporated into the City, and
WHEREAS, the City finds ltdesiI'lloletoat such 8yatembeoperated
and mainta.ined in a manner compatible with the operation or ita own
system, and.
wHEREAS, the said Schaefer Road Rural water Supply Corporation is
a small corpors tion and would find it burdensome 0 hire men ()O a
fun-time '.\las1s and purchase equipment and supplies for such opera-
t10n and maintenance, and
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz has an efficient, well-equipped
operating and maintenance organization which 18 able to prOVide
euch service to the Schaefe-r Road RUI'll1 Water Supply Corporation,
now therefore
BE I'lRESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Schertz that the
City is willing to enter into a contract with Schaefer Road Rural
Water Supply CorpoI'lltion to provide neceas.ry operation and main-
tenance aervices for said Corpor"Uon. and. that the Manager of
UUlitiea is authorized to negotiate with said Corporation to de-
termine the coats and conditions of prov1d1nj; such service, ami
tha tthe Manager of Util1 ties 1::1 directed to prepare and submi t
to the COUncil for appr'oval a contract witt, said Corporatlonpro-
