1973R11- CURTAILMENT IN THE UTILIZATION OF ENERGY ." , A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE CITIZENS OF SCHERTZ TO AID THE CITY IN COMBATING THE ENERGY CRISIS '1ilITH THE CURTAILMENT IN THE UTILIZATION OF ENERGY. WHEREAS, the United States as a nation faces a serious energy crises in which conservation measures have been taken, and; WHEREAS, Dolph Briscoe, Honorable Governor of the State of Texas, has proposed measures to help alleviate the problem, and; WHEREAS, other municipalities in the Randolph area have also resolved to do their part, and; WHEREAS, the holiday season is upon us, meaning that much energy will be con- sumed with the added lights, and; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: That the City of Schertz wishes to voluntarily contribute to the national effort 'bfsglving-thecenergy crisis by: 1. Requesting residents and businesses to refrain from usage of outside light- ing. 2. Requesting that the usage of inside lights be held to a minimum. 3. Pledging to curtail the use of city ball park lights. 4. Asking residents to drive under 55 miles per hour on the roads and highways. 5. Requesting of residents to keep their thermostats at the level recommended by the Guadalupe Valley Electric Corporati. on. 6. Requesting residents of Schertz to refrain from usage of air conditioners as much as possible when the weather is warm. 7.
