A RESOLUTION
EXEMPTING THE CITY OF SCHERTZ FROM
THE PROVISIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OF
THE FIRE FIGHTERS'RELIEF AND RETIRE-
MENT FUND.
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has passed an Act entitled
"Relief and Retirement Fund for Volunteer Fire Fighters" and numbered
as Senate Bill 411; and
WHEREAS, said Act, having been signed by the Governor,
went into effect less than sixty (60) days ago; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of each municipality must
decide whether to commit public monies into participation in the fund
created by this law; and
WHEREAS, participation of public monies into this fund
would create an extra burden on the General Fund of this City; and
WHEREAS, there currently exists a pending question before
the Attorney General as to the Constitutionality of the contents of the
law, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS,
That the City of Schertz does hereby exempt itself from the
requirements of the Fire Fighters' Relief and Retirement Fund, as created
by Senate Bill 411 during the 1977 Session of the Texas Legislature.
