NO. 1002- EXCEEDING 5,000 RESIDENTS . . A RESOLtm:ON DECLARING THE POPULATION OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS AS EXCEEDING 5,000 RESIDENTS AND INOORPORATING THE PROVISIONS OF VERNON'S TEXAS STATUES AS APPLICABLE TO A CITY OF MORE THAN 5,000 RESIDENTS. WHEREAS, the U. S. Cenaua compiled on April 1, 1970 revealed the population of the Gity of Schertz to be 4,061 persons and such figure is duly recorded in documents of the U.S. Census Bureau and affixed on the City of Schertz highway signs denoting population count; and WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Schertz, deaired that an interim census be taken to determine the preaent population of the City; and WHEREAS, in a census completed by the City Secretary by a house~ to-house count, and verified by official occupancy dates for new dwellings obtained from deed records and from waterworks records, which records are on file in the City Hall and available for review upon demand, the official census of the City is now determined to he 5,019 persons excluding census count from five residences where count could not be obtained; and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of having the new census declared the official census of the City 'If Schertz and Article 970a, Section 3A and Section 7A of Vernon's Texas Statues (1964 Supplement) and any and all other acts relating to the administration of a muni- cipality having a population in excess of 5,000 persons apply; now, therefGre BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNClL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ: The official census of the City of Schertz is declared to be 5,019 persons effective this date and all provisions of Vernon's Texas Statues governing the administration and operation of a municipality in excess of 5,000 persona shall apply.
